Refugee Reception Centre in Leros

The effective management of the refugee issue presupposes the existence of modern and well-organized accommodation facilities. Within this framework, the new Reception and Accommodation Centre for refugees and migrants was launched and completed in 2021 in the area of Lakki, on the island of Leros. This modern facility can accommodate 2,140 people and constitutes a comprehensive complex which, in addition to accommodation and residential areas, includes retail spaces, medical facilities, sports facilities, and office areas.

The project’s requirements for aggregates were fully covered by the INTERBETON quarry located in the Xirokampos area of Leros. Specifically, the project was supplied with aggregates for concrete production, asphalt works, road construction, and earthworks, supporting the construction of housing structures and associated infrastructure, as well as the development of roads and surrounding outdoor areas.
